Let us discuss about a disease which can affect every human being but utmost care should be taken if kids are affected to this. The tonsils and adenoids are stacks of immune cells commonly found in lymph glands (lymphoid tissue). These tissues are found in the mouth and behind the nasal passages, respectively. Infected or enlarged tonsils results in chronic or recurrent sore throat, bad breath, dental malocclusion, and abscess, upper airway obstruction causing difficulty with swallowing, snoring, or sleep apnea. Infected adenoids may become enlarged, obstruct breathing, cause ear infections or other problems. Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy are surgical tools employed to cure the tonsils and adenoids. Surgery is preferred every time but as an outpatient at either a hospital or a surgery center. In both facilities, quality care is provided without the expense and inconvenience of an overnight stay. An anesthesiologist will monitor the patient throughout the procedure. The patient should avoid eating or drinking anything 6 hours prior to the time of surgery. This includes even water, candy, or chewing gum. Otherwise chances of an anesthetic complication are there.
